Reflective Log

23rd -27th march

My reflective log for the week of 23-27 of March 2020. It’s been hard and complicated to do work from home. This is because of me having to get use to a new environment of workspace. This has affected my work a lot from not being able to go outside and do what I actually wanted to do. My whole idea for my work was a Music Video. But me not being allowed to go outside my house to record is causing an issue with what I can and can’t do. I’ve had many ideas on what I can actually do and what I can’t do. I wasn’t planning of having to work from home and need to think of different ways to actually record my music video. I’ve come up with a few ideas, but I don’t think I would have enough time to complete them.
On Monday I was contacting the person I went and did my trip with. I had to call him and ask him what clips I can use to upload it onto my blog. I was allowed to upload 2/3 clips this was with the artists knowing and giving me permission.
On Tuesday I was fixing up my 1500 words due to me speaking more about what I am than what I actually want to do. I changed many things in the 1500 words because of the issue which is currently occurring around the world and me not being able to leave the house.
On Wednesday I was carrying on with fixing some errors in the proposal and also making it easily readable with no slang. Once finishing the 1500 words I had went and started to finish of my proposal as this was left in a rush when I was needing to do some experimentation and collecting work from the pc and macs in college before colleges and schools were closed.

30th march to 3rd April

This was the second week at home carrying out work. I have started to look into different ways on how I can complete my work. I have faces issues due to the ongoing issue which is affecting us. I have asked teachers for support on what I can do to get the best grade possible. I had a few ideas in mind which was me creating a series of story boards which include everything which is needs in a music video. This will include things such as shots, shot sizes, camera movements, props which were to be used, timings.
I have also seen more music videos to see what they have done to plan the shots they do. Some story board it and some music video producers shoot music videos in one shot meaning the whole music video is shot in one area and does not cut anywhere.
I have carried on researching into music video producers and editors as I would have to do both. I have also looked into different editing techniques. These techniques were tricky at first but when trying them out myself I found that it was not as hard. The only thing which ruined the experimentation was the fact that I was only using still images I had and not videos. These effects need videos as one effect I had saw was an eyeball effect where the pupil of the eyeball starts showing the music video and has a transition from there.

Half Term

20th – 23rd April

During the half term I have been listen to many music videos and finding out who edited the music videos. I have been looking into two visual editors’ names Troy Roscoe and Kaylum Dennis. These two have been growing there visual editing for a long time but within the last month they have created videos for major artist that is how I found them.
I have been looking into them this whole week. I wanted to see what types of visuals they ha used in their work. I had found out that they learnt all their skills from YouTube tutorials I have watched visual effects tutorials this week and been looking into which effects will help me carry my work out the best ability. All the skills and tutorials I have been watching are from YouTube.
